FA Cup An “Extra Special" Feeling Says Paul Ennis

FC United of Manchester midfielder Paul Ennis has said that this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Guiseley has an extra special feeling.

Neil Reynolds’ side are just 90-minutes away from the FA Cup First Round Proper, as they host Guiseley this weekend at Broadhurst Park.

FC United have defeated Pontefract Collieries and Curzon Ashton during their 2020/21 FA Cup journey, while receiving a walk-over after Alfreton Town withdrew from this year’s competition.

“We played Barrow last season in the FA Trophy which was a great occasion, but this being the FA Cup makes it extra special and being 90 minutes away from the first round proper,” said Ennis.

“And hopefully many more to come as we have an exciting group of players and the club is going in the right direction.

“It’s a really exciting game to play in. We had a game on Tuesday night, so we recovered on a Wednesday and back on training Thursday to prepare. The manager and staff will do their homework and we will have a game plan, but we are confident in our ability to go out and win the game in front of our home fans.”

The club look to sell out the fixture alongside new guidelines of 600, with full-capacity attendances recently against Lancaster City and Stafford Rangers in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Ennis added: “A home clash is always good, especially with our home record over the last 12 months.

“We will sell all 600 tickets like we have done for all our games under the new restrictions, which is a credit to our fans even in these tough times. And hopefully we can put in a performance for them to be proud of."

Guiseley currently sit 11th in the National League North table, and have recorded one win and one loss in the league so far, while defeating Atherton Collieries and Matlock Town in their cup run.

“A tough opponent from the league above, but we showed in the previous round we are more than capable of beating teams higher,” added Ennis.

“We will respect them, but we won’t fear them and hopefully will be in the draw for the first round proper which as a non-league player is always a great achievement.”
