Fans must wait for cup king's goals

Fans of EVO-STIK League newboys Runcorn Linnets will be hoping returning striker Kurt Sherlock can soon start setting more records in the Emirates FA Cup despite failing to make a goal-scoring return on Saturday.

The 26-year-old, pictured, couldn't find the net in a 3-0 defeat at home to fellow Northern Premier League newcomers Widnes following a two year absence turning out for Stalybridge Celtic in National League North, Welsh Premier League outfit Aberystwyth Town and Marine and Radcliffe.

A hard-working striker with an eye for a spectacular strike, Sherlock wrote his name into the EVO-STIK League West club's history books with a five goal haul in a home replay against Glasshoughton Welfare in the Extra-Preliminary Round in 2015.

He'll hope to add to his haul with his first competitive goals at the same stage of the competition at Northern Counties East League Division One side Hallam on Sunday 12 August, a week before the North West Counties League champions head to Droylsden on the opening day of the EVO-STIK League West season.

After representing Formby and Bootle in the NWCFL for a number of seasons, Sherlock first signed on at The Millbank Linnets Stadium in December 2014, bagging 17 goals in 56 appearances.
