FC United move for Burke

FC United have signed Liverpool academy product Nathan Burke from Bala Town.

Burke, 24, has spent the past four years in the Welsh Premier League, having previously been with Warrington Town in the NPL.

He said: “I’ve been at Bala for four years and leave on good terms but I heard that FC were interested, I knew all the story of FC and knowing the ground and the facilities and when I spoke to Neil Reynolds it appealed straight away and I wanted the move.

“The standard of the NPL is really good, you’ve got many other great sides in the league and we want to be in and amongst it come the end of the season, our ambition is to push all of them all the way for the title.

“It’ll be good to meet the lads to get to know them through pre-season but obviously I can’t wait to get playing at Broadhurst Park in front of a great crowd, it’ll be fantastic, I can’t wait to get in and express myself.”

Manager Neil Reynolds added: "This lad is exciting, he’s exceptional, he’s grown up through professional football and is a real talent, and he’s at a great age and he wants to better himself and through the English game is the way that he wants to do that, there were many clubs after him but we got talking about FC and while I can’t give him a tour of Broadhurst Park I asked him to watch some of the YouTube videos to get a feel for the club and he watched them all.

“He wants to be part of it and while we’ve got a very strong midfield, I wanted something else because in some games we had to adapt our style and he can play as the #10, he can play as the deep-lying midfielder, there were games last season where we had the midfielders playing when perhaps they needed a break but they had to play through, so signing someone with the calibre of Nathan we’ve now got three of the best if not the best three midfielders in the league with Potts, Griffiths and now Nathan Burke and I’m sure that our fans will be wowed by what he can bring to the table."
