Droylsden want success the right way

Droylsden had a season to forget last term and they’ll be looking to start off on the right foot when they host Colne this weekend.

Manager Dave Pace is committed to playing football his way, and says his recruitment over the off-season has been about getting the right personnel in place to execute that.

At his disposal remain the likes of Shaquille Antoine-Clark, though he has been struggling with a knock, plus the likes of Liam Caddick, Domaine Rouse and the experienced Steve Howson.

Pace told the club’s official website: “We had a great start against Runcorn last year, but after that it was mediocre.

“Hopefully we can have a more settled side this season and achieve what we want to achieve. This year we’ve brought in players that want to play the right way, and have come in because of the way we want to play football.

“We have got a plan B, but what we’ve got to do is get it right from the start and play football as it should be done and start destroying teams from here on in.

“We need an end product. If you play possession football and you win 2-0, you’re Barcelona. If you get beat 1-0 you’re the Dog and Duck.”
