FA Trophy third round draw

By James Gordon

The draw has been made for the third round of the FA Trophy.

Perhaps the result of the second round from an NPL perspective saw West Division side City of Liverpool win 3-1 away at National League North side Buxton. Their reward is a home game against Hartlepool United, who were relegated from the Football League at the end of last season.

Northern Premier League duo Radcliffe and Macclesfield both won 4-2 on their travels against National League North opposition in Farsley Celtic and Alfreton Town.

Radcliffe will host Redditch United of the Southern League in the next round, while the Silkmen are on their travels to National League North side Curzon Ashton.

Nantwich Town will host National League York City, having knocked out Chester on penalties in the second round.

NPL Midlands Division side Walsall Wood were another who advanced via penalties, beating higher-level Hemel Hempstead Town after the game ended 1-1. In the next round, they will host Coalville Town.

Games will take place on Saturday 9 December, with winners receiving £4,500 and losers £1,250.
