Striker the latest to join Magpies

GARRY Flitcroft has clinched his second signing of the summer after swooping for pacy striker Chris Denham.

The Magpies boss beat several clubs from higher up the football pyramid to the signature of the highly-rated Denham, who played in the Blue Square Premier for Altrincham last season.

Delighted with his latest capture, Garry said: “Chris is a great signing for us. Several clubs from the Conference wanted to sign him but when I spoke about the potential here, he wanted to be part of it.

“He’s exactly the type of player we need to bring in to this club as we make the step up.

“He’s lightning quick, he’s got bags of ability and can play anywhere across the frontline.

“He’s also got plenty of experience, having spent the last three years playing at a higher level.

“I think he’ll fit in really well and he gives me another great attacking option to add to what we’ve already got.”
Aged 28, Denham’s former clubs include Stalybridge Celtic and Droylsden.

He joined Altrincham in 2008 and his pace and skill quickly made him a firm fans’ favourite.

A groin injury restricted his appearances last season but he’s now fully fit again and ready to resume training after returning from a holiday in America.

Denham is the second new face to join the squad after speedy winger Tom Williams signed from Clitheroe last weekend.
