Ian Evatt hails Colls as a 'fantastic club'

Bolton manager, Ian Evatt, has praised Atherton Collieries following their friendly over the weekend.

Bolton travelled to the Skuna Stadium in preparation for their League 2 season over the weekend and claimed a 3-0 victory in the behind-closed-doors fixture.

Eoin Doyle scored the first of the afternoon for Wanderers, before Evatt changed all 11 men on the field for the second half against the Northern Premier League Premier Division side.

A Bolton trialist scored the club's second and Dennis Politic made it a third before the full-time whistle.

Following the friendly, Evatt praised the hosts in the post-match interview with the club.

"It's a fantastic club," he said.

"I can't speak highly enough of Brad [Cooke] and the rest of the staff here. The way they've pandered to our needs today here in terms of it not being ideal because of the Covid situation, but what they've done for us is magnificent and I can't speak highly enough.

"We're only sorry for them that we couldn't have a few fans today to make sure that financially the club are well looked after.

"But we have a relationship here now and hopefully next season when fans are allowed back in, we'll come back in pre-season and and make sure this place is packed out to give the finances this club deserves."
