NPL signs live streaming partner

By James Gordon

The Pitching In Northern Premier League has appointed FilmMyMatch as Official Filming and Streaming Partner for the 2020/21 season.

Several clubs have already turned to live streaming, including the recent game between Ashton United and South Shields which was delivered in partnership with FilmMyMatch (FMM).

FMM has worked with The FA, the Scottish FA, ESPFA, League Football Education and a number of County Football Associations.

Mark Harris, NPL chairman, said: “With restrictions on fan numbers in place, clubs are turning to live streaming to help fill the revenue gap. Ensuring that a knowledgeable and professional partner is on board to assist both the league and its clubs in delivering quality and reliable coverage from our grounds is another important partnership that we have forged since the return to football.”

As part of the deal, a number of games will be live streamed throughout the season, whilst clubs that want their matches to be filmed and/or streamed, and who do not already have a supplier in place, can take advantage of the special rates available from FMM as the league’s preferred supplier.

Whilst UEFA Article 48 is suspended, clubs may film any game with the agreement of their opponents and the league. To ensure that subscribing fans get value for money, clubs must also provide a prime position for filming at, or near to the half-way line.

David Roe, Director at FilmMyMatch, said: "We're delighted to have been selected as the NPL's filming and live streaming partner for the 2020/21 season. The core aim of FilmMyMatch is to deliver professional filming and broadcast services at all levels of the game and we're excited to be able to provide NPL fans with access to high quality live footage throughout the season."

FMM provide high quality footage using mobile broadcast technology, and can deliver through a range of platforms, including Facebook Live or behind a pay per view platform.

As well as live streaming, clubs have been adapting to the changes since the restart of football by implementing digital ticketing platforms, as delivered by the league’s preferred supplier Kaizen, and NQ, which enables supporters to order and pay for food and refreshments via their phones.
