Stamford last remaining NPL side in FA Trophy

By James Gordon

Stamford AFC will face National League North side Hereford in the fourth round of the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday 16 January at the Zeeco Stadium.

It will be the Pitching In Northern Premier League's S/East Division side's first game since beating Kidderminster Harriers in the second round on December 15.

They received a bye in the third round with the withdrawal of Macclesfield.

The game will be played behind-closed-doors due to the national lockdown, but Stamford are set to stream the game free of charge with a 3:00pm kick-off, and are selling virtual tickets at just £10 to help support the tie.

In their cup run so far, they have already defeated the likes of higher level Kidderminster Harriers, while also claiming victories over Lincoln United, Stourbridge and Kidsgrove Athletic on their way to the last 32 of the national competition.

Victory would see the Daniels reach the fifth round for only the second time in the club's history after last reaching the same stage in 2005 when they narrowly lost 1-0 at home to Exeter City.

The 16 victorious clubs will each receive £5,250 from the prize fund, while those defeated will be paid £1,500.
