Final tributes to former player

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Loughborough Dynamo will bid a fond and final farewell to club stalwart Dave Walton at his funeral next week.

After holding a minute’s applause for the former Dynamo player on Saturday at the Nanpantan Sports Ground before their 4-0 reverse at the hands of promotion-chasing Witton Albion, the EVO-STIK NPL First Division South club's fans, officials and former players will pay their final respects at his funeral on Thursday 9 March.

Taking place at 10.15am at Loughborough Crematorium, it will be followed by a celebration of his life at The Golf Range in Loughborough.

An active fan since hanging up his playing boots, Mr Walton was 72 when he passed away at Leicester's LOROS Hospice five days before his birthday on Monday 20 February after a long battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

"Throughout his life Dave was a positive and calm man which not even Motor Neurone Disease could change," said a Dynamo spokesman in a statement announcing the funeral arrangements and inviting fans to attend.
