Five year shirt deal for Marine

Company of same name to sponsor shirts

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Marine announces that they have reached an agreement with the marine travel company to sponsor the front of the Marine home and away first team shirts in a five year deal until 2017.

the marine travel company, is recognised as one of the UK's leading independent marine travel companies and provides dedicated maritime travel, crew logistics, seaman fares and ships crew travel services to the Shipping and Marine industry.

Formed nearly ten years ago the marine travel company is based in Canterbury and now operates globally, with partners in Greece, the Philippines, UK, Ukraine, South Africa, India and USA.

the marine travel company Managing Director David Thompson was a schoolboy fan of Marine attending the famous FA Cup victory at home against Barnsley in 1975. This was Marine’s first ever FA Cup win against a football league club.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said, “This is a very exciting and unique sponsorship announcement to make. I am indebted to Managing Director David Thompson for making a commitment on behalf of the marine travel company for such a long period and I would like to thank him for this and for his decision to become a major sponsor of Marine Football Club.

"The five year arrangement allows both parties to work together over a longer period and this will help us to develop a strong relationship creating maximum impact and benefit for the marine travel company. I look forward to working closely with David and his staff to ensure that they too are able to share and enjoy the benefits of continued success at Marine Football Club.”

Paul added, “The very special name of our football club goes back to 1894 when the founders met in a pub called the Marine Hotel which amazingly is still operating in Waterloo. The hotel had seafaring connections with the port of Liverpool and the founders of Marine Football Club at that meeting decided to use the name of the hotel as the name of their new team. Now almost 120 years later, to have as our new sponsor, the marine travel company, operating worldwide in the shipping and marine industries is truly unbelievable.”

David Thompson, Managing Director the marine travel company said, “Having moved up north to the Crosby area in the late 60's, the first football match my father took me to was a game at College Road which I still remember to this day. Even though I have now moved back down south I always look out for the Marine result every week. I am still regularly on Merseyside and am really delighted and excited that myself and my company can be part of Marine's long term plans-I very much look forward to being at the Arriva Stadium in the coming seasons.”
