Four exciting projects get kick-off thanks to TCF

Four Northern Premier League clubs have been successful in the latest round of Trident Community Foundation funding.

Clitheroe will use their grant to support a new men’s health project, Clitheroe Lads United.

It is designed as an opportunity for men to get together to maintain and improve physical and mental well-being, avoid social isolation and form friendships and community spirit.

Club vice-chairman, Andrew Jackson, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Trident Community Foundation for the funding they have provided – and the assistance Adam has given us – to help get Clitheroe Lads United up and running.

“As a community club, we want to play our part in delivering this type of activity to benefit people of all backgrounds in and around the town who will also then hopefully form an attachment to Clitheroe Football Club.

“We believe the scheme will help tackle important issues for men in a relaxed and fun way, as well as providing some real enjoyment and health benefits.”

The focus of South Shields’ project will be to develop girls and women’s football.

Chief executive, Lee Picton, said: "As a club we are committed to providing the best possible opportunities and pathways for all young people in our community to enjoy playing football and to have the best experience while doing so.

"We recognise that our current provision for female participants can be vastly improved and we now intend to address that situation by utilising the grant funding we have received from the Trident Community Foundation.

"We see the development of girls' and women's football as an important part of our strategic growth plan and this funding will allow us to invest in the human resource required to drive new initiatives and programmes in this area.

"We are hugely grateful to the Trident Community Foundation for supporting our efforts to improve our female provision and look forward to seeing this aspect of our club blossom in the months and years to come."

Stan Glover is a member of the Marske United committee and one of the club’s community liaison officers and was instrumental in making the successful Trident application.

They will use their funding to introduce more youngsters to football and build a youth infrastructure via summer schools.

He said: “Marske United are delighted to receive funding from the Trident Community Foundation which will allow us to continue to develop our junior structure.

“The funds will allow us to build on the activities Middlesbrough FC Foundation have been supporting where over sixty children turn up every week to play football.

“The grant will be used to facilitate the creation of another team in our ever expanding junior set up.”

The funding will enable Leek Town to kick-off a new vibrant, scalable and long-term sustainable community programme.

Chairman Jon Eeles said: “This will be focused around our new 3G facility which has been co funded by the Football Foundation, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and the Club.

"The programme will further embed the club within the local community and seek to engage a significant number of new people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds with Football.

"We are delighted to have been successful in application to the Trident Community Foundation."

This is the second phase of TCF funding, with six Northern Premier League clubs successful in the first round of applications.

The fund enables clubs to apply for up to £5,000 for community projects via the Trident Community Foundation, set up last summer as a joint project between the three Trident leagues and title sponsor Pitching In.
