The Lilywhites were heading toward the £1,000 mark within hours of launching the Mossley AFC Community Fund on Thursday for ground improvements including a major makeover of their changing rooms and resurfacing the entrance to the ground.
The EVO-STIK League North club's fans and officials already pride themselves on helping to provide local community facilities and are appealing to the wider public to support the newly launched crowdfunding scheme.
The Manchester-based club are also working to educate young players as members of the ground-breaking Northern Premier League Football Academy and the campaign's coordinator and committee member Matthew Hayton is urging supporters to sign up and become a new monthly Mossley Hero, Mossley Ambassador or Mossley Friend.
Hayton said: “We’re more than a football club. We offer the facilities of Seel Park for the whole town to enjoy. Each week we run the Monday Club for adults with disabilities, on Wednesdays The Club for local teenagers as well as having a partnership with Emmaus. Local community groups are also able to hire our function room free of charge and we’re also the home of Mossley AFC Running Club and the base for the annual Mossley 10k race.
"To ensure we continue to offer everyone the best experience possible, we need to upgrade some aspects of Seel Park. We’ve worked tirelessly to secure funding, including being finalists in the Buildbase bursary competition at Wembley in 2017. To achieve our ambitions, we’re now looking for people from our local community and beyond to come together to help support us, allowing us to continue to be a focal point of our town.”
He added: "We need people to help us meet our targets. Whether you support our football club, care about the town of Mossley or are passionate about helping the groups who use our facilities, we need your help please. We've created some fantastic rewards to say thank you and hope you can support us. All those who donate will receive updates on our progress. Whether you donate or not, please do share our page with your family and friends on social media - it all helps."
