Fundraising for paralysed player

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Ashton United are backing a fundraising campaign for one of their reserve team players who may never walk again after suffering a serious spinal injury.

The friends and family of Ellis Robinson say the 17-year-old's life has been torn apart since he was injured at the end of February while training with his uncle's team Limeside King George.

Instead of pursuing his dream of turning pro after just missing out in recent trials for the English Colleges representative side, the teenager and his family are now praying further treatment and operations will restore the feeling he has lost below the chest.

Nearly £5000 has already been raised by Team Ellis to help pay for his rehabilitation and the Robins are now urging fans to donate at the online page that has been set up or lend their support at an upcoming fundraising night in Failsworth at Baldy Bob's Bar and Kehoes Function Room on Oldham Road. Taking place on Friday 25 March, tickets for the event are priced at £5.

For more information on the battle the teenager is facing after suffering the life-changing injury that also left him needing a tracheostomy to help with his breathing, visit: www.gofundme.com/zsrwnfr8.
