Gordon has chance to be next Vardy

Stafford Rangers striker Josh Gordon is getting ready to go on trial with champions Leicester City after scoring the winner in his side's 3-2 victory over Workington in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's top flight on Saturday.

According to reports in The Sun, Daily Mirror and elsewhere in the media over the weekend, the hot-shot, pictured, is hoping to impress Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri at the Premier League champions in a week long trial next week to follow in the footsteps of his former Nantwich Town teammate Cohen Bramall who secured a dream move from Hednesford to Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who kicked off his career at Stoke before spells at Alloa, Peterborough, Newcastle Town, Nantwich Town and Rhyl, has been earning rave reviews since signing for Rangers manager Neil Kitching from the Dabbers in October and scoring on his debut against Grantham Town.

In January, the forward was being linked with a move to Championship giants Derby County and is now hoping to join the EVO-STIK NPL's most famous graduate at the King Power Stadium, former Stocksbridge Park Steels and England striker Jamie Vardy.

With scouts flocking to Marston Road to see Gordon in action, Rangers boss Kitching has hailed the player as a "top goalscorer" who "works his socks off for the team".

Should his trial prove successful, Gordon's out of window move would mean he was unavailable to help Vardy and his new Foxes teammates in their battle to avoid becoming only the second English top-flight champions to suffer immediate relegation.
