After suffering a series of postponements that scuppered previous plans to present the EVO-STIK League Premier Division's Gingerbeards with January's Club of the Month Award, they were finally honoured on Thursday night before the NPL's clubs voted at an extraordinary general meeting to switch from a north-south to east-west geographical split at Step 4 next season.
Grantham Town were unveiled alongside Scarborough Athletic and Frickley Athletic in EVO-STIK League North and South respectively as the first winners of the monthly performance awards in 2018 during the NPL's historic fiftieth anniversary 2017-18 season.
Like all performance kings, the Lincolnshire club were presented with an engraved glass memento to mark their form in January and a bottle of spirits to celebrate with, Grantham Town secretary Pat Nixon collecting their reward from Warrington Town chairman and EVO-STIK League director Toby Macormac at the Holiday Inn Wakefield, pictured.
Currently sixth but just three points off the top flight's play-offs with games in hand on everybody above them apart from Shaw Lane despite their trip to Whitby Town on Saturday falling victim to the wet weather, under the guidance of manager Adam Stevens the Gingerbreads recorded three wins and two draws in the top flight to pip their nearest rivals at Hednesford Town to the monthly accolade and climb as high as second spot.
