Grantham to launch women's team

Grantham Town have announced their intention to field a Women's side for the 2019/20 season.

The side will be looked after by the Grantham Sports Academy, who will also be offering a Scholarship studying BTEC Sport of A-Levels for all 16-19 year old girls.

The Gingerbreads Chairman, Nigel Wedgwood explained the reason for adding the side "We recognise that as a club we need to be inclusive for all and by having no women's side we were failing this. Working alongside the Academy we've identified what we can offer."

The new women's side will compete at Step 7 in the women's football pyramid, matches will take place on a Sunday on the main pitch at the Meres.

Grantham Sports Academy Manager Alex Watson "It's great that we're now able to add the women's programme to the Academy. The courses give preferential access to our three degree programmes with Loughborough and Nottingham Trent Universities"

The Club are holding an evening for those interested in joining the new side or to become part of the 2019 Academy Scholarship. This will take place on Tuesday 29th January from 7:30pm till 9pm.

If you would like further information or to register your interest, please contact Alex Watson via alex@granthamsportsacademy.co.uk
