At Mount Pleasant, Marske United’s Jamie Owens took just 12 minutes of the first half to notch the first treble in the Seasiders 4-1 defeat of Gresley, which was the second fastest hat-trick by an NPL player this season. The result moved United up a place and dropped the Moatmen down one.
Further North, at Craik Park, Morpeth Town fans were treated to eleven goals in the Highwaymen’s 8-3 hammering of AFC Mansfield. David Carson helped himself to a triple (including a penalty) in Town’s eight, whilst Joe Iaciafano scored all three (including spot kicks) of the Bull’s replies. The defeat leaves AFC at the foot of the table, whilst Town moved seven points clear at the top!
The final hat-trick was also in the East Division, at Wisbech Town’s Fenland Stadium, where Michael Frew found his shooting boots and slotted in three goals in the 4-1 defeat of Ossett United. The defeat drops United down a position, but the Fenmen will be ecstatic to move off the bottom and rise six places to 14th.
