Hearn focused on winning games

Basford United may have a slim chance of the play-offs, but they are likely to have a massive say in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division relegation battle.

They conceded a late equaliser at South Shields last weekend which has virtually ruled them out of the top five reckoning, as they sit seven points behind Gainsborough with just three games to play.

But over the Easter weekend, they welcome Marine on Saturday before travelling to Mickleover Sports, two sides who are embroiled in an ever-tightening battle to avoid the drop.

Boss Liam Hearn said: "What's going on around us in the league does not really matter, we are entirely focussed on winning our remaining games and finishing the season the best we can.

"It will be difficult playing teams who are scrapping for points to avoid relegation, we will have to match their desire and will to win, there can be no holding back."
