Home fixtures key for Avenue

Bradford Park Avenue update, by Lewis Sale

'We face back to back home fixtures, and we need to improve our form at the Horsfall Stadium,' claims Bradford (Park Avenue) chairman Dr John Dean.

Currently sitting outside the playoffs, on goal difference, and having played a game less than Marine, The Avenue will be looking forward to the forthcoming fixtures at home, to cement their intentions of pushing for promotion. However, their home form has been slightly indifferent, winning six, losing four and drawing just the one game. Coincidentally, Avenue hold a better record away from the Horsfall Stadium, securing 24 points out of a possible 39 available.

Bradford's chairman Dr John Dean believes that 'the next two games will be crucial to improve their home record,' but, at the same time, 'face two very tough sides in Buxton and Nantwich Town.' Of late, Buxton recorded a fine draw away at Northwich Victoria and Nantwich Town drew at Chester FC, in front of a record 3,560 crowd. The chairman, has seen his side struggle through the Festive period, but 'is pleased with the current position, and remains confident of reaching our targets.'

After the weekend's draw at Hednesford Town, Dean said: 'the performance was fantastic, we played some fantastic football, with some fine individual efforts combined with great teamwork.' Also, the fixture saw Tom Greaves return from his successful loan spell at Garforth Town, and notched his first goal since returning, with a trademark finish from a Richard Marshall cross.

Furthermore, Bradford (Park Avenue) progressed into the next round of The Doodson Sport Cup, defeating Evostik First Division South outfit; Loughborough Dynamo. A brace from Michael Duckworth, and goals from captain Rob O'Brien and assistant manager Mark Hume, ensured their name is in the hat for the draw.
