The 28-year-old former Football League striker penned a two year contract after arriving from Northern League First Division side Newcastle Benfield to become the second impressive signing of the day by Seasiders boss Chris Hardy, pictured below, after the earlier addition of experienced defender Simon Ramsden.
The forward, who kicked off his career as a junior at Newcastle United and Manchester City, earned a move to the Football League with Oxford United in 2014 before a loan spell at Torquay after scoring 24 goals in 19 games during a fine run of form at Jarrow Roofing. Despite scoring on his debut in Lancashire to pull one back, the striker couldn't stop his new side slipping to a 4-1 defeat.
Before kick-off, a statement from the Turnbull Ground read: "John's signing comes after several months of hard work by the Blues’ management team to find a striker."
The 35-year-old Ramsden, who made the bench for the EVO-STIK League Premier Division clash at Giant Axe, brings a wealth of experience to the Blues' defence having made over 300 professional appearances for Bradford City, Grimsby Town, Notts County, Motherwell and Gateshead, his last club before a spell out of the game.
