Hot shot Worsfold sticks with Gainsborough

Gainsborough’s top scorer Ashley Worsfold has become the first player to commit to the club for the 2019/20 season.

Hot on the heels of the announcement that management team Liam King and Ross Hannah would be continuing, it was confirmed Worsfold would stay for a fourth season.

Worsfold, 28, scored 22 goals in the season just gone and has scored 58 goals in all competitions for the Holy Blues, finishing top scorer in each of the last three campaigns.

He said: “I am more than happy about signing for another season and am already looking forward to next season under Kingy and Ross.

“They were obviously a massive factor in me agreeing to another season at the club.

“I think we have a good chance of getting promoted next year and I want to be here for that.

“I have always been so well looked after by everyone at the club.

“It’s a great place to be, we didn’t quite make it this year, but I’ll be giving it my all to go even better next year.”
