Hudson capture inspires Avenue

Bradford PA update, by Lewis Sale

Bradford (Park Avenue) look ahead to their crucial game against Chester FC on Saturday with plenty of optimism.

The Avenue secured the signing of Mark Hudson from fellow Premier Division side Worksop Town, hours before the victory against Buxton on Monday night. The midfielder has played in the Football League with Huddersfield Town, Chesterfield and Rotherham United.

Following his debut on Monday, Hudson said the main reason to join Bradford was 'they have something to play for. Furthermore, he added: 'I would like to thank Worksop Town, as they have been really good for me, but they are mid table and they couldn't go up and go down, so it's a challenge to come here.'

His new manager John Deacey was delighted to finally grab the signature of the former Worksop Town captain saying: 'Yes, finally we have got him. He will be vital for the run in with his experience. He's a lovely boy and hopefully he will be influential for us.'

At the same time, Bradford make the short journey to Chester in one of the most eye catching games this weekend. The win on Monday night saw the West Yorkshire outfit climb into third position, before being replaced by Hednesford Town a day later.

Meanwhile, the Avenue are one of the four teams that have defeated Chester FC during the campaign so far. A close game in November was decided by debutant Adnan Ahmed, who curled a shot on target from 25 yards into the top corner. Nevertheless, Bradford boss John Deacey is looking forward to the game, claiming: 'We have nothing to lose.' Also, Avenue chairman Dr John Dean is anticipating another tight game between the two teams: 'The club are looking forward to Saturday. We have been in a good run of form, despite suffering a defeat at Stafford Rangers last Saturday.

"After our victory against Buxton, I'm sure the players will want to impress and put in another fine performance against the league leaders in front of a big crowd. With the recent signing of Mark Hudson, as well as the quality players we have already, hopefully, we can continue to play the football we know we can do.'
