Jack Tinning ready for “big test” in Pitching In Super Cup

Warrington Rylands midfielder Jack Tinning says his side are prepared for a tough clash this weekend in the inaugural Pitching in Super Cup, a game he’s looking forward to.

The cup is a new concept that brings together last season's FA Trophy and Vase winners ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Rylands will travel to Hornchurch on Saturday, August 7, after David McNabb’s side lifted the FA Vase in May for the first time in their 115-year history.

The Urchins claimed the FA Trophy following an impressive 3-1 victory over Hereford, and defeated the likes of National League outfit Notts County and National League North’s Darlington along the way.

“We’re looking forward to the Super Cup this weekend,” said Tinning.

“Obviously, it’s going to be a very tough game against the best non-league side in the country but these are the types of games you want to play in.”

Rylands, who will compete in the Pitching In Northern Premier League West in the 2021/22 season, have played the likes of AFC Fydle, AFC Liverpool and Liverpool under-23s in pre-season, preparing for their new adventure in the NPL.

“We’ve prepared very well for the new season,” Tinning added.

“I think we originally had seven or eight games penned it and then more were added to the already busy schedule with the likes of Everton and Liverpool under-23s wanting to play us.

“As I said earlier, they’re the types of games you want to be playing in, against full-time, higher opposition. So, all in all the preparation has been good and all the boys are itching to get going now.

“It’s a big test this weekend. To win the FA Vase was unbelievable but to win the Trophy is some going considering the teams that are in the Conference these days. But, as I keep saying, you don’t want to roll teams over every week in pre-season and come the season you’ve had no tests and you’re getting caught out. We’ll be giving it a good go and we will see what we can do.”

Hat-trick hero Elliot Nevitt, who was recently snapped up by Football League Two’s Tranmere Rovers, helped seal the victory for Rylands at Wembley in the FA Vase final, while Tinning was also named in the starting XI.

He added: “Of course, getting to Wembley in the Vase is a tough ask for any club. I think the amount of work the club as a whole put in sought it's just rewards by getting to the final and it was the cherry on top winning it.

“To win 10 games on the bounce is some achievement anyway but to come out of it with a trophy makes it ever better.

“It’s an exciting club to be at. There’s always a buzz around the place and having that success is driving us on for more.”

Tickets for this Saturday's clash are just £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for concessions, while the match will also be streamed for just £5.
