Kidsgrove Athletic make six new signings

Kidsgrove Athletic have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2023/24 season with six new additions.

The first of the signing is goalkeeper Kieran Harrison, who makes his return to the Grove from Boldmere St Michaels.

Harrison made eight appearances for the Mikes towards the end of the season after departing Hanley Town in January.

Joining him at Hollinwood Road is forward Joe Woolley, who signs from 1874 Northwich.

Woolley, who returns to Kidsgrove for his second spell at the club, departed the club in 2016 to rejoin the ‘74, linking up with his brothers Jack and Matt.

The 26-year-old made 125 total appearances for the Cheshire-based outfit and scored 23 goals.

Meanwhile, the Grove has welcomed back defender Declan O’Riordan for the new season.

The centre-back joined the club in 2021 and made 23 appearances before leaving early on during the 2022/23 season to focus on his university studies.

Striker Jake Alcock has also joined the club from Coors Sunday Football League side Greenhoffs FC.

Alcock was a prolific striker at Sunday league level, famously scoring 10 goals in a single game in an 18-0 victory over Chesterton YC.

Another player marking his return to the club is centre-forward Jake Lovatt.

Lovatt left the Grove to join close neighbours Newcastle Town in January 2022. He made 34 appearances in total for the Castle and scored 12 times before suffering from persistent injuries which limited his game time.

The final player joining Kidsgrove Athletic is winger Nathan Morley.

The 22-year-old, who began his career at Burton Albion, joined Newcastle Town in 2019, and went on to make 102 appearances for the Staffordshire-based side.
