Kidsgrove pay tribute to Gordon Banks

Kidsgrove Athletic paid tribute to England’s World Cup winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks at their game with Colwyn Bay at the weekend.

The Stoke City Old Boys Association were guests at the EVO-STIK League West Division game to pay tribute to Banks, as well as raising funds for charity.

His son Robert was in attendance and a minute’s silence was held prior to kick-off.

Banks passed away in February at the age of 81 and at his funeral, his pallbearers were goalkeepers representing his former teams Joe Anyon (Chesterfield), Jack Butland (Stoke City), Joe Hart (England) and Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City).
