King appointed permanent manager at Gainsborough

Gainsborough have appointed interim Liam King as the club’s new manager on a permanent basis.

King, 31, who was forced in to retirement earlier this season due to injury, took charge of the Holy Blues following the departure of Lee Sinnott in February and narrowly missed out on a play-off place.

He and assistant Ross Hannah have now been confirmed to take the club forward for the 2019/20 season in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division.

Chairman Richard Kane said: “Having fallen out of the play-off spots, and the season seemingly only heading one way, Liam and Ross breathed fresh air into our season, galvanising the squad.

“To be in with a shout of the play-offs going into the final day is testament of the turnaround in our season.

“Travelling to Workington on a Tuesday evening to scout the opposition themselves shows the commitment they have to make a success of themselves in the management game.”

The pair took charge of 11 games, including the now expunged result against North Ferriby, winning seven, drawing one and losing three.
