Last day beers on tap from now on!

Wherever they finish from now on, Marine's fans can look forward to having a good drink on the final day of the season after their EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club announced plans to stage their first ever beer festival.

Running from Thursday 14 April to Saturday 16 April, the inaugural three day event at The Marine Travel Arena was deliberately pencilled in to coincide with the Premier Division club's last game of the season against Ramsbottom United.

Marine chairman Paul Leary is backing the free event to be a great success and is already looking to hosting future festivals of the final day of the season with beers and ales with names like Arkell's Wiltshire Gold, Elgood's Snake Slayer Stout and Riptide from the Neptune Brewery on sale.

The festival is being sponsored by Rent-A-Space and Liverpool's premium self storage provider was thanked by Leary in a statement on Wednesday outlining the club's plans and appealing for volunteer bartenders.

Leary said: “This is our first beer festival and I am delighted to have such a diverse range of real ales available over the three days. It is hoped that the event, with free admission, will become an annual festival timed so nicely at the end of each season.

"I would like to thank Kevin Murphy, managing director of Rent-A-Space self-storage, for agreeing to be headline sponsor and I am looking forward to working with the numerous volunteers who are to assist in making our first ever festival a real success for Marine Football Club.”

In total, fans will be able to tuck into at least 12 cask ales and a cask cider named Lilly The Pink at £1.50 per half pint using tokens purchased in the clubrooms. Local offerings are set to include Livepool Light and Bootle Bull from Crosby's Rock the Boat Brewery.
