Loach involved with Carlton charity day

Former England U21 'keeper pledges support

Former England under 21 goalkeeper Scott Loach and his dad James are organising a day of football fun at Carlton Town to raise money for breast cancer care, and the prizes they have obtained for their raffle alone are quite staggering.

Saturday 26th May is the big day when a Rest of the World XI take on a Southwell XI at Stoke Lane with a 3pm kick off. There will be live music, a penalty shootout and an amazing auction and raffle prizes, many obtained from Scott’s fellow professionals in the game.

A Joe Hart signed England shirt, an Adam Johnson signed shirt and a Manchester United squad signed shirt are just some of the incredible array of prizes. There is also a meal for two at the curry lounge and 1 nights stay for 2 with dinner at the Hilton in Lincoln, the list is extensive.

The Watford keeper who had an outstanding game as the Hornets beat Middlesbrough 2-1 to finish their season on a high at the weekend spoke exclusively to the Carlton Town website and told us how it was important for him to raise money for a cause close to his heart.

“Firstly I would like to thank Carlton Town FC for hosting this event, we are raising funds for the city hospital breast cancer unit.”

“My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and has struggled with the treatment including radio and chemotherapy which made her hair fall out and nearly caused her to lose her life due to the side effect. It has been a long struggle for her and although the worst is over, there is still a long road ahead. The not knowing and psychological effects are still very demanding, this includes the uncertainty of the cancer returning.”

“I felt I had to do something to help so every year since my mum has been ill I have tried to put on some sort of event to help the amazing team of doctors and nurses who take the time and dedicated care to look after cancer sufferers like my mum. We are hoping to raise £5,000 this year and have worked very hard behind the scenes to gain some fantastic raffle prizes for all to enjoy.”

“With the help of Carlton Town FC and the good natured public, I am sure it will be a great event and we hope to see you all at Stoke Lane on the 26th May.” concluded Loach.
