Loan star goes straight into line-up

Morecambe's Ben Hedley was expected to go straight into Witton Albion's line-up for the visit of Buxton on Tuesday night joining the EVO-STIK League Premier newboys on a month's loan.

The 18-year-old midfielder, pictured, signed his first professional deal with the League Two club in June after making his debut last term and will spend the next month at The NetDec Stadium gaining experience in the EVO-STIK League's top flight after Witton boss Carl MacCauley struck a deal with Shrimps manager Jim Bentley.

Bentley told supporters on Tuesday: “This is a good move for Ben and will give him some first team experience. He’s developing nicely and making good progress. This will be his first loan move and he’ll be in good hands at Witton with the management team of Carl MacCauley and Gary Martindale, who are both good football people that I trust to do right by Ben.”

Witton are hosting an EVO-STIK League top flight fixture for the first time in two years following their promotion in May as EVO-STIK League South runners-up and play-off winners.
