Baker's 23 years of work at the League Two club before leaving in September to return to the helm at Harrison Park for a third time is set to be celebrated with a special sportsman's dinner at the Alexandra Stadium in February.
Hosted by former Alex and England striker Dean Ashton and two other mystery 'special guests', the event on Thursday 22 February will see guests enjoy a three course meal, auction and entertainment from a top comedian as Baker is honoured for his work under four different managers since first leaving the Blues in 1994 to become number two to then Crewe boss Dario Gradi.
Baker, who guided Leek to an FA Trophy final appearance at Wembley and promotion in 1990 during his second spell with the EVO-STIK League South's Blues, helped to lead the Alex to two Wembley appearances in the League Two play-offs in 2012 and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final the following year. As head of recruitment at Gresty Road, he has been credited for spotting the likes of Tom Pope, Luke Varney and John Brayford.
Baker, pictured, said: “I am grateful to the chairman John Bowler, the board of directors and all the staff at Crewe for allowing this to happen. The line-up will be one of the most high profile top tables that has ever been put together.”
Tickets for 'A Night with Deano and Friends' are priced at £39 each or £350 for a table of 10.
