Loughborough Dynamo appoint former professional footballer as assistant manager

Loughborough Dynamo have appointed Lewis McGugan as their new first team assistant manager.

The former Nottingham Forest, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday man has joined head coach Brad Munn’s backroom staff and will be at tomorrow’s game at home to Spalding United.

McGugan, 33, played 202 times for Nottingham Forest scoring 40 goals and he helped them gain automatic promotion from League One in 2008.

McGugan also made appearances for the England Under-17s and Under-19s.

“I’m delighted to bring Lewis McGugan to the club for a number of reasons, said Munn.

"He is someone who I can trust but also someone who I have a lot of respect for off the pitch.

“His playing career instantly earns him the respect needed and his experience at top level football will hopefully have the desired effect on a squad which on the whole is a young one.

“Hopefully we can create a partnership that will help progress this set of players as much as possible to be successful in and off the pitch.

“I’m sure everyone around the club shares the welcome I extend to him and I look forward to him getting started.”

As a player Lewis McGugan was a midfielder. He retired from professional football in 2018 and has since had some time out.

Loughborough Dynamo co-chairmen Darren Rodgers and Ian Beech said: “We are delighted to have appointed Lewis McGugan as our new assistant manager.

"Lewis is someone who has and vast experience in the professional game and we believe that will be an asset to us as we move forward.

“We look forward to working with Lewis and seeing his partnership with Brad Munn develop and we wholeheartedly welcome Lewis to the club.”
