Lynch granted Marine extension

Manager adds two years to deal

Marine manager Kevin Lynch has been rewarded with a two-year extension to his existing contract that will keep him at the Arriva Stadium until May 2014.

Lynch, 36, took charge of the Mariners in April 2009 and in his first season finished a credible 9th and last season finished in 8th position. Marine currently are chasing a promotion play-off place in 6th position in the league having remained unbeaten in the last five games including victories against title contenders Hednesford Town and Northwich Victoria.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said, “Kevin’s commitment to Marine is absolutely first class and I am delighted that he has agreed to the extension of his contract until 2014. This is an important time for Marine as we bid for a play-off place and the signing of Kevin for another two seasons as our manager is just reward for the work that he and his assistant Phil Brazier has put in.

"It also gives him that continuity and confidence to talk to our players as we start to plan already for next season. Without doubt he has assembled the best squad that we have had at Marine for a number of years and I am positive that he will continue to take us forward to the levels of success that he, the players and the fans deserve."

Lynch said, "It is a privilege to sign for such a fantastic club for another two years. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here as manager and working alongside real football people who have Marine very, very close to their heart, was a real drawing point in wanting to stay.

"Me, Phil and all the players will continue to strive to bring the success this club richly deserves especially for the Chairman, Committee, Sponsors and most importantly, the fans who have been nothing but exceptional to me and my players. The one thing I will guarantee them is that no stone will be left unturned in our bid to put Marine Football Club back on the map."

Leary added, "To celebrate the extension of Kevin’s contract he has offered to hold with me an open forum with our fans on Friday 23 March at 7:30pm for an 8:00pm start in the Graham Lounge in aid of our floodlight appeal. The event is moderately priced at £5 and includes a curry meal. Tickets are on sale from this Saturday in the club bar. I hope that as many fans as possible turn out as these are exciting times at the moment as we push on for the success that we all richly deserve."
