Macmillan benefit from Worksop donation

Worksop Town update, by Ray Lucas.

The Macmillan Cancer Support Charity will benefit from Worksop Town's midweek fixture against Mickleover Sports by over £1500.

The Tigers let all spectators in free of charge and then thanks to Chairman Jason Clark donated £1 for everyone who passed through the turnstile.

Macmillan were also on the ground doing a bucket collection whilst the grounds landlord Peter Whitehead of P and M Leisure contributed £500 to the pot.

On the field the 807 were entertained to a nine goal thriller with the Tigers sneaking victory in the third minute of added time. Striker Jamie Jackson scored a hat-trick and goals from Ashley Burbeary and Chris Wood sealed the 5-4 victory.

This week the Tigers gained a place in the 1st Round of the FA Trophy to play Tamworth at home, thanks to a 3-2 win against Curzon Aston in another thrilling encounter the scorers on this occasion were Massiah McDonald, Luke Shiels and a late Mark Hudson penalty.

An addition to the squad this week was 18 year old Lincoln City striker James Wilson, he will be on loan with the club until the 8th January and will be eligible for FA Trophy games.

More exciting news could come the Tigers way later this week as Bassetlaw District Council will be hearing the planning application for the proposed new ground. Everyone at the club has their fingers crossed as planning has been turned down previously.

This weekend the team travel up to in-form Chester FC, a difficult game but fans have happy memories of a victory there on our last visit.
