Mad magic March for Malbon

March proved to be a fertile hunting ground for Kidsgrove Athletic’s Anthony Malbon.

He grabbed his third hat-trick of the month in just 11 minutes against Skelmersdale United in the West Division on Saturday. In fact, at present he’s this season’s NPL hat-trick king with four in total so far.

His first came on 18th August at Clitheroe (in 62 minutes) and although he notched up plenty of goals between, his next treble didn’t arrive until 2nd March, this time at home against Runcorn Linnets (67 minutes). The following Saturday, 9th March, his third triple took him 21 minutes against Droylsden, again at the Novus Solutions Clough Hall Stadium.

Ant’s latest hat-trick has taken him to third place in the EVO-STIK League West Division Scoring Chart, and with a month of the season yet remaining, it remains to be seen what magic is yet to come.

However, Jacob Hazel of Frickley Athletic has notched up three hat-tricks, and he may have some say in the way things look by the end of 2018-19.
