Marine receive floodlight grant

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), supporters of the Football Foundation, and the largest funder of non league football in the country, today announced a grant of £35,355 to Marine Football Club, members of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

This award will enable Marine Football Club to install a new floodlighting system, replacing the existing unreliable lights that are 35 years old. The new four corner floodlights incorporates latest design and technology benefits with a significant improvement in lighting performance and reliability.

The new system will enable Marine to meet ground grading requirements and maintain their membership of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, as well as continuing to provide floodlit coaching sessions for the local community.

Funded with £6m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said:, “Marine Football Club is delighted to have received the grant award from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund of £35,355 towards our desperately needed new floodlights.”

“This is a significant award representing 50% of the cost of the project and this has enabled the Club to place an order with the preferred contractor and commence work very shortly.”
