Matchday magazine in TV spotlight!

The BBC's cameras are heading to EVO-STIK Leek Town on Saturday to check out the club's headline-making programme covers!

Featuring famous movie posters and album covers to advertise upcoming fixtures, the club's matchday magazines were featured on the BBC's newsbeat website on Friday as the Blues prepared to host Stamford in EVO-STIK League South.

The posters - featuring iconic covers from Pink Floyd, Oasis and Kasabian to James Bond and Jurassic Park - are estimated to have helped the Blues boost their gates by around 12 per cent last season after being created by fan Paul Buxton based on suggestions from chairman Jon Eeles.

With clubs currently competing to win a share of £5,000 in prize money in the EVO-STIK League's Digital Challenge, the duo are getting ready to be interviewed before kick-off and proud officials are hoping the headlines and TV coverage on the news next week will do their chances no harm as the competition hots up.

Launched last month, the EVO-STIK League Digital Challenge is being sponsored by the Northern Premier League's title sponsors to celebrate the competition's historic 50th anniversary season and drive the growing social media engagement of clubs and the league with £1,500 being handed out to the most digitally minded in each division.

To create a level playing field for clubs of all sizes, the stats of all 68 on key platforms Facebook, Twitter and Instagram were benchmarked in September so next May's winners come from those demonstrating the biggest rise in web traffic and quality of social media engagement.

The Blues may still have some way to go to beat Alvechurch to a special £500 prize on offer for the club attracting the highest number of views or downloads this season for a unique piece of video content featuring EVO-STIK branding. Last weekend a superb three-touch match winning volley from striker Daniel Dubidat at Sheffield FC wracked millions of hits on news websites around the world within hours of being posted by Alvechurch TV.
