Matlock ask fans to name new club mascot

Matlock Town are giving fans the chance to name the club’s new mascot.

The as yet unnamed Gladiator made an appearance at the Proctor Cars Stadium on Saturday as Matlock thumped Marske United 5-0 thanks to a Jonathon Margetts hat-trick.

The Gladiator dons an all royal-blue outfit, featuring the club emblem and a silver helmet.

Fans are now offering suggestions to name the club’s new lucky charm.

Posting on social media, the club said: “We are asking you the Gladiator fans to come up with the name in which one lucky winner will be picked and become the official mascots name forever more. Get those thinking caps on!

“Winner will be chosen by club committee and announced this Friday.

“The cut off date for entry is this Thursday at noon.”
