Matlock bring in Armond

Matlock Town have signed young midfielder Finlay Armond from United Counties League Premier Division North side Sleaford Town.

Armond, 20, was previously at Boston United before heading to USA on a scholarship. He has scored two goals in 10 appearances this season.

Gladiators boss Martin Carruthers said: “I’m delighted to sign young Finn.

“He’s a very good young player who’s appeared for Boston in the league above before going to the USA on a scholarship. Finn returned early and signed for his local side to keep himself fit.

“Connor Dimaio recommended him, he’s looked razor sharp in training and will be a good asset to the squad. He’s young, fit and hungry and he’ll give competition for places in that midfield area.”

Armond is expected to be included in the Gladiators’ squad to take on Workington at the Proctor Cars Stadium on Saturday subject to NPL and FA approval.

He may not be the only fresh face prior to the Workington clash with Carruthers hoping to add at least one more player to the Gladiators’ ranks.
