Matthew Tymon: “It’s definitely the biggest game in the club’s history”

Marske United striker Matthew Tymon has labelled this weekend’s FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round fixture the biggest in the club’s history.

Carl Jarrett’s side find themselves in this stage of the FA Cup competition for only the second time in their history, and are only 90-minutes from reaching the First Round Proper for the first time.

The club last reached the Fourth Qualifying Round in 2013, defeating Consett, Hebburn Town, Albion Sports, Frickley Athletic and Halesowen Town, before falling to a 6-2 defeat to Southport.

This time around, Marske United have defeated North Shields, Crook Town, Trafford, Consett and Blyth Spartans.

They remain unbeaten in the Pitching In Northern Premier League N/West Division, recording three wins and two draws, and face National League North side Brackley Town in the Fourth Qualifying Round in what will be a massive occasion for both clubs.

“It’s definitely the biggest game in the club’s history, but hopefully for us that is just the case until the next round if we can get through this tie,” said Tymon, a former Whitby Town forward.

“It’s always exciting getting to this stage of the competition and hopefully we can do ourselves justice with the run. The coaches and manager have looked into Brackley, so we have worked on a few things building up to the game and now we just have to take it in to the game and see what we can do.

“Obviously for the club it’s huge. We’ve equalled the best run in the competition and if we can go and get through on Saturday then financially it will be brilliant for the club.

“We are expecting a tough game. From what we’ve been told they are a well drilled, organised side who pass the ball about well but also put you under pressure with balls into the box, from throw ins especially.

“They’re two leagues above us and although we were dominant in the game against Blyth, who are in their league, Brackley will be at the opposite end of the table come the end of the season so we are under no illusions on how difficult it’s going to be, but we are confident and after all it’s 90 minutes and with the magic of the FA Cup, anything can happen.”
