Former ROI, Aston Villa defender speaks at Sportsmans' Dinner

Rushall Olympics’ Committee and Management spend an evening in the presence of former Republic of Ireland, Aston Villa and Manchester United legend, Paul McGrath and his confidante and friend of The Pics, former Aston Villa physio, Jim Walker.

The Committee and Management team at Rushall Olympic enjoyed an evening at Walsall FC’s Banks’s Stadium with legendary defensive lynchpin, Paul McGrath and were treated to a private audience due to a friend of the Pics in their party.

Former Aston Villa physio, Jim Walker has played a key role in the rehabilitation of Rushall Olympic forward, Kyle Brady following a horrific cruciate injury sustained at Chester FC and has also kindly offered his general expertise and experience to the Pics recently and McGrath was stunned to see Jim Walker with the Rushall Olympic team at the event.

Paul McGrath sites Jim Walker in his autobiography as being a professional mentor and true friend at Aston Villa as he nurtured him through a career of managing injuries and his status as a colourful character in the game to produce performances for both Aston Villa and the Republic of Ireland that put him amongst the real elite in football.

Pics Vice-Chairman, Nick Allen enjoyed a tremendous evening,
‘To have some time with Paul McGrath and Jim Walker and get a taste of the special relationship they have, to true football fans is simply priceless. Jim Walker has been fantastic for our club, his professional reputation is amongst the very best and he is an absolute gentleman as well.

Jim has agreed to be a speaker at one of our renowned Sportsman’s Evenings at Dales Lane next year and I’m sure he’ll have plenty of tales to tell about his career in football as a player, in management and as a physio as well as his close bond with Paul McGrath. It’s a night we are really looking forward to.’
