The midfielder, who won the FA Vase at Wembley with North Shields in 2015, joined the Highwaymen in June, and has made 10 appearances from the club all from the bench.
“I’ve loved every minute of my time at Morpeth; the only thing missing was the game time,” said McKeown.
“In the end that is what dictated my move. I can’t thank Ken (Beattie, the chairman) and the staff enough and I hope the club do well in the future.”
