Missing Dundas can't break promise

Scott Dundas is missing his side's final bid to reach the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's promotion play-offs on Saturday to help his wife run the London Marathon for charity.

The Castle - needing a win at Basford United keep their EVO-STIK NPL First Division South play-off hopes alive – will have to do without Dundas on the touchline after he promised to take the whole family down to London for the weekend before his appointment last year as the successor to his brother-in-law Ivan Lodge

Dundas told stokesentinel.co.uk on Friday that couldn't break his promise to support his wife Clare's charity marathon after he promised to be there for her big day to help her prepare and cheer her across the finishing line.

The Castle boss, pictured, said: “She has been supporting me and football for years, so it's only fair I support her while She raises money for the Donna Louise Hospice. The arrangements were made a long time ago, because to be honest I didn't expect us to be in this position at the end of the season."
