However, things didn`t start well for the Steelmen as they went into the break behind, courtesy of a goal almost on the whistle from Anthony Malbon. On the hour-mark, the home side pulled back on level terms when sub Jake Bettles headed home at the far post after a fine cross from Jordon Crawford, who was celebrating his 21st birthday.
It was the birthday boy who gave the Steelmen the lead just two minutes later when Bettles was brought down in the area and Crawford converted the resulting penalty. And his day got even better when he grabbed a third in the 79th minute, netting at the far post after Steve Leslie had an audacious shot bounce off of the crossbar.
The result leaves Kidsgrove without a win in their last ten games, making Wednesday’s game against Stocksbridge Park Steels a bit of a 'six-pointer'.
