Moore swaps Shildon for Hebburn

Hebburn Town have appointed Daniel Moore as the club’s new manager.

Moore left Shildon after more than five years in charge following their NPL East Division play-off semi-final defeat to Marske United on Tuesday night.

A four-time Northern League winner, the defender came through the ranks of Mansfield Town before proudly giving eight years' service to the army.

Upon relocating to the North East, Moore donned the shirt for the likes of Shildon and Celtic Nation.

He captained Spennymoor Town to 2013 FA Vase triumph, despite injury preventing an appearance at Wembley.

Moore returned to Shildon as captain and lifted the Northern League Cup and Division One title, before receiving his first break in management after taking the hot seat in January 2017.

Hitting around 500 appearances, the player-manager masterminded JR Cleator Cup and Durham Challenge Cup victories at Dean Street.

Achieving promotion alongside Hebburn in 2020/21, Moore guided The Railwaymen to a play-off place in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division, with his Shildon tenure ending in a 59% win ratio from 223 games.

Moore said: “I’m excited.

"I've went from a great club in Shildon, to another which has ambition to compete in the league.

"I'm grateful that the club have chosen me, and I want to do my best for the football club."

Hebburn Director of Football, Stephen Rutherford, commented: "The recruitment process has been thorough and we are over the moon with our choice.

"It's been a tough period with many rumours floating around regarding who is or isn't getting the role.

"We received over 20 applications for the vacant role and it was imperative we gave the right focus and rigour to the process to secure the best candidate for our club.

"Daniel was a great applicant - not only did he come with some great credentials, but also pretty much blew us away with his meticulous preparation and detail of how he can support our club in our objectives.

"We are all keen to get started on preparations for next season.

"I'd like to place on record my personal thanks to all the other applicants who took time to go through the process."

Chairman Vin Pearson added: "We are thrilled to have Bobby [Daniel] on board as our new first-team manager.

"We obviously knew about his achievements at Shildon - as soon as he made us aware of his interest, hearing how ambitious he is and how his beliefs and objectives align to ours, it made the acquisition an appealing one.

"We obviously wanted to be respectful to fellow Northern Premier League club Shildon and allow Bobby time to discuss his situation with them, and agreed we were happy to wait until the end of the 2021/22 season for him to come on board.

"I think he'll kick our club on and we're looking forward to working with him."

Moore has named Mark Hudson as his assistant, having worked with the former Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United midfielder for nearly five years in management.

Shildon's goalkeeping coach Carl Morris will also join The Hornets, listing Sunderland RCA and Billingham Town among his former clubs.

Current Hebburn coach Simon Harris will remain on South Tyneside, forming the final part of a four-man backroom team.

Moore and his team will be in attendance on Monday afternoon at Hebburn’s Community Celebration Day to meet supporters for the first time.

Joint caretaker manager Chris Errington, alongside strength & conditioning coach Ben Sherwood, have departed the club to focus on other projects.
