Morpeth boost attacking threat

Scott, 20, joins the Highwaymen from League Two side Mansfield Town.

The young striker has enjoyed multiple loan spells at Kettering Town, Basford United and Mickleover.

Scott becomes the latest signing in a completely revamped front line, with manager Craig Lynch hoping that he can add a new dimension alongside recent additions Dale Pearson and Connor Thompson, as well as Andrew Johnson who scored 18 times last season.

"Josh was someone that I have been aware of throughout pre-season but he had other opportunities at the time from different clubs," Lynch said.

"When Josh became available to us, it was a great chance to look at him. Josh showed us the kind of attributes that I look for in a centre forward and, with only being 20, will be sure to keep getting better and better and definitely benefit the team."

On his move to Morpeth and what fans can expect from him, Scott said, "The quality and atmosphere of the squad when I came in was class. I spoke to the manager a couple of times and how they want to play and what they want to achieve is something I want to be part of.

"I’m a striker that likes to hold the ball up, link the play and get in the box. Also, to work hard, press from the front and try to set the intensity for the team.

"All I want to do is play as many games as I can and show people what I can do through goals, assists and how I play.

"All the lads have welcomed me in and there’s a real buzz around the training ground. I can’t wait for the season to start."

Scott will go into selection for Morpeth's season opener away to Warrington Town tomorrow afternoon.
