Munslow will support successor

Haydon Munslow is looking forward to supporting his successor after standing down as the chairman of EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Kendal Town.

Munslow, pictured shaking hands on one of the many sponsorship deals he'd signed off during his six years at the helm, stood down at the Lancaster and Morecambe College Stadium on Friday.

George Gudgeon is expected to be confirmed as Munslow's successor by the First Division North club's members in the coming days after he was elected as acting chairman by the management committee at the Mintcakes.

In a statement announcing his decision to step down, Munslow said he was looking forward to continuing to contribute to the Cumbrians' future as a member while helping Gudgeon raise as much revenue as possible.

After his work in recent seasons to improve the club's standing in the community, Munslow believes his successor has every opportunity to build on his successes and take the Mintcakes forward.

He said: "The historic debt is cleared, the clubhouse and car park is won back, and all the various competing teams are all in place doing well. My exit as chairman will allow others to come forward. They will see the genuine opportunities to build through helping young local people develop. I’m sure following an energetic and timely reorganisation they will steadily move the club to new levels."

He added: "I would like to thank all those inside and outside the club who backed my vision of building a senior community based men’s and ladies football club built upwards from a solid youth system allowing direct local access to all talented players with commitment."

Gudgeon said: "It is with sincere regret that Kendal Town FC have to announce that Haydon Munslow has resigned as chairman of our club. Haydon has been with the club for six years and has been an inspiration to myself. He’s been the main driving force with Gary Fawcett and me in progressing our community based youth system.

"I would like to think when people remember the role Haydon has played as chairman in developing the club it hasn’t just been about a men’s first team but also a Ladies team and a full youth system. Making the club into a central hub of the community.

"I’m sure that everyone associated with the club as players, coaches and fans will join the management committee and me in thanking Haydon for all his time, commitment and dedication during his period as chairman."
