Naming rights sold to new complex

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Frickley Athletic have sold the naming rights to their new £600,000 community pavilion at the SW Jackson Utilities Stadium.

Due to open in November as a local hub for sports and other activities, the plush new facility will be known as the BPS Community Clubhouse after the Blues won the support of local window manufacturer Building Product Solutions (BPS).

The company was unveiled as the Premier Division club's latest commercial partner on Monday as construction neared completion on the project which was funded by fans who matched grants from Sport England and the FA Facilities Fund.

The Blues hope the provision of high-quality facilities, coupled with coaching for appropriate age groups, will improve the experience for regulars as well as attracting new players and fans to the game.

Sitting at the northern end of the Westfield Lane-based site, the community facility will also serve grassroots sports played on the nearby country park. It has been designed to FA and Sport England standards to provide changing, shower and toilet facilities for players, officials and disabled users. A kitchen area is also being created for use by community group and for post-match refreshments.

Frickley Athletic chairman Gareth Dando said: “We’re delighted to welcome BPS on board and really appreciate the support they are giving to the club and to the local community in sponsoring our new pavilion. It’s an exciting time for the club and the area as a whole. We’re moving forward on and off the pitch and we hope this is the start of a long term partnership with another successful local business”.

BPS sales director Lynne Darwin, pictured with players Sebastian Malkowski, Luke Jeffs, Chris Wood and manager Karl Rose, is delighted that her company is getting involved at Westfield Lane and putting their name to such a fantastic facility.

She said: “We’re always keen to support local community groups and lots of Barnsley lads have come up through the ranks at the Frickley. When we heard about what an amazing job the team had done with their fundraising we were keep to step in and give them a bit of a boost.

“Football has always been a key part of our community and after a hard week at work it’s the ideal outlet for letting off steam, keeping fit and active and socialising. We want to make sure that future generations have the opportunity to get involved.”
