New project to teach footballers life-saving techniques

Kidsgrove Athletic manager Scott Dundas has launched a new project to teach footballers life-saving techniques.

Football has seen stories of players and fans being taken ill during matches - with some ending in tragic circumstances.

And that has prompted Dundas, who runs Gator Events and Gator Medical, to set up the ‘Shot Stopping Lifesavers’ scheme, with the emphasis on individuals being able to provide medical assistance when required.

Dundas said: “We have put together a format to enable on-field players and especially goalkeepers to have the information and skills necessary to act in case of an emergency situation.

“With the recent events within all levels of football where young, fit players and in some cases spectators are suddenly taken ill and even worse going into cardiac arrest, it would be a step in the right direction.

“It’s beneficial to players and clubs to give them an understanding of the latest life-saving techniques and the ability to act in a fast and structured manner if an emergency arises."
