New shirt sponsors are taking turns!

Marine are celebrating the signing of a unique shirt sponsorship deal for the next two EVO-STIK League campaigns.

Local traders Coulson Flooring and College Cycles have joined forces to share a back of shirt home and away sponsorship package covering the next two seasons until May 2019.

Delighted officials at The Marine Travel Arena say the two businesses are now deciding who'll be on the back of the home or away kit for the 2017-18 campaign before they swap over the following season!

Neighbours Coulson Flooring and College Cycles are well established independent local traders located in College Road near to the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's ground. The deal was announced this week after owners Andy Coulson and Jonathan Bolton, pictured, came up with the idea of sharing a shirt sponsorship package back in June before approaching Marine chairman Paul Leary and reaching an agreement.

The Mariners chairman said: “This is a pretty unique arrangement of two very local businesses sharing a shirt sponsorship package and literally agreeing to swap shirts half way through. What will be really interesting is how Andy and Jonathan are to decide who will have the home or away shirts in the first season, perhaps they may toss a coin but they could have a penalty shoot-out at Marine to decide, now that would be amazing!”

"What makes this arrangement really special though is that the two traders got together with the idea and both agreed that it would be really good to help their local football club. It also gives both businesses a real opportunity to advertise their logos on the back of the Mariners first team shirts when otherwise that may not have been possible."

He added: "I would like to thank Andy Coulson and Jonathan Bolton for supporting Marine in this way and I am sure that they will benefit from this very special, unusual and exciting sponsorship agreement.”

Coulson said: “I am really pleased that Jonathan and I are able to assist Marine and it is really good that traders in College Road are able to work together in this way. I have completed a number of new flooring installations at Marine in the last couple of years and through this sponsorship I am able to give something back to help them for the next two seasons, which is great.”

Bolton said: “It is really good that we have agreed to this brilliant idea to share a sponsorship for a couple of seasons and I can’t wait to see our logos on the Marine shirts. I have been at College Road now for about seven years and I am glad that I am able to sponsor Marine our local football club. My dad played for Marine in the late seventies so it is nice to keep the association going albeit forty years later!”
